The original key is C major. If it sits too high or too low for your voice, try the shifted versions and pick the one you can sing comfortably.

In December 1847 Placide Cappeau, a wine merchant and poet from Roquemaure, wrote the French poem Minuit, chrétiens at the request of his parish priest. Adolphe Adam set it to music within days, and it was first performed at Midnight Mass in Roquemaure that year. Some clergy later criticized its tone. John Sullivan Dwight's free English version of 1855 spread it across North America. The public-domain Mutopia edition (Léon Grus) is in C major, 4/4.
The melody is in the public domain (first published 1847). MR Maker made this accompaniment from a public-domain score. It contains no lyrics, translations or third-party recordings.
