Preparing restart points for backing-track rehearsal

A rehearsal often repeats short passages rather than playing the song once. Check that you can return to useful musical starting points in the saved backing track before the session.

What to check

  • Mark the start of each passage you plan to rehearse.
  • Replay from just before the entrance to confirm the cue is usable.
  • Practise locating those positions in the playback app you will use.

How to use the result

Share the positions with the other performers if they need the same reference. When you change the track version or arrangement, verify the positions again rather than copying timestamps without checking them.
